The New Zealand flooring industry is a challenging one, even at the best of times. While this local flooring retailer had enjoyed a market reputation for product quality and price, local challengers had begun stocking comparable products at similar price points. As this competition increased, trying to maintain that reputation – as well as the margins the business model required – was growing more difficult by the day. 


Taking a broad diagnostic look at the business, Mark and the GSS team went to work, uncovering new opportunities and lucrative new categories that that the client could offer at the most competitive price point in the market. With these new products in place, the client has now realised a substantial improvement in margins and is eager to see what the overall positive impact to the business will be come the end of the financial year.
